Decorative & Construction
Aggregates, Slates & Sands-
Pre-Packed & in bulk
Ideal for use as ground cover for patios, paths, border cover, drive ways and water features surroundings. 1 tonne of aggregate will cover approx. 12 sq. metres to a depth of 35/37 mm and 1 tonne of crushed slate will cover approx. 16 sq. metres to a depth of 35/ 37mm
The aggregates can be delivered/ collected in the following ways:-
25kg. Polybag
40kg. Polybag
Non-returnable Maxi bag - minimum order 500kg
Bulk tipped - minimum order 500kg
If used on driveways that have vehicle traffic, it is recommended to use a larger size of aggregate, ie. 10mm, 20mm or 15/20mm. Some topping up of aggregate may be required after a period of use. If used on a vehicle driveway, crushed slate will eventually break down and is therefore not recommended for this application.
Any drive ways that are used by vehicles should have a 100mm compacted Limestone (40mm down) base. possibly thicker in 'soft spots'. For normal pedestrian paths and patios it is recommended that there should be a 40mm compacted Limestone (40mm down) base. In both cases, the compacted limestone base will greatly reduce any 'dropping' of the driveways, paths and patios.
It is also advisable to use a weed control material between the compacted Limestone and the aggregate to greatly reduce weed growth. To reduce any possible punctures of the weed control material, it is a benefit to 'blind' the compacted base with sand before laying the weed control material
